Installations

Sarcograph

Sarcograph

The life-giving mysteries of METEM are literally made flesh through the SARCOGRAPH. An arcane and venerable installation, the SARCOGRAPH uses BIOMASS to heal and revive fallen ECTYPES.

  • Heals and revives ECTYPES
  • Re-enter SARCOGRAPH to restore health
  • Deposit BIOMASS using the ship's BIOPORT

Should the ship's BIOMASS resources be depleted, the SARCOGRAPH will still function, though a much slower rate.

"The mystery of immortality eclipses the mystery of death. We have traded one inscrutable conundrum for another."
- Excerpt from Quantum Meditations

Bioport

Bioport

Somewhere between the esophagus and the colon of the ship, the BIOPORT accepts any scavenged biological material and in turn, dispenses the curious HOMUNCULUS.

  • Deposit BIOMASS
  • Retrieve HOMUNCULUS

"Where does it lead, anyway? Maybe if I stick my arm ins- Oh no, oh no no! Oh no no no no!"
- Final words of Almus-46

Central Computer

Central Computer Cradle

True to its name, the CENTRAL COMPUTER CRADLE brings life to the ship's systems. When inserted, a HOMUNCULUS can to provide ECTYPES with real-time updates on resource usage, incoming danger, ship health, and more.

To POWER THE SHIP:

  • Retrieve the HOMUNCULUS from the BIOPORT.
  • Place the HOMUNCULUS in the CENTRAL COMPUTER CRADLE.
  • Turn on the power.

"I place no more trust in machines than I do in men."
- Arcimondyz, the Eternal

Circuit Breakers

Circuit Breakers

Balancing power usage is a delicate act and CIRCUIT BREAKERS exist for when the math doesn't add up. Turning on more installations than the ship's power core can handle will overload it and create the risk of a critical POWER FAILURE. To mitigate this, the CIRCUIT BREAKERS near the core will gradually trip.

To lower the risk of POWER FAILURE:

  • Reset the CIRCUIT BREAKERS.
  • Manually power down INSTALLATIONS to offload the Ship's power grid.

Failure to reset the CIRCUIT BREAKERS in time will result in a critical POWER FAILURE, ejecting the HOMUNCULUS from the CENTRAL COMPUTER CRADLE and shutting down all systems.

"Praise to those swift of foot and resolute of will, tirelessly resetting the breakers. For in their exertion, they keep the pulsing heart of our vessel alight, taming the rampant hunger of our power grid."
- The Engineer's Lament

The table bellow provides an overview of the circuit breaker mechanics in the game.[1]

Engine Room

Engine Room

At the heart of every battleship of Metem lies the ENGINE ROOM, which holds the VOID DRIVE, THRUSTER BOOSTERS, and the ENGINE TRIM ADVISORY PANEL which monitors ENGINE TRIM POINTS.

  • The VOID DRIVE allows for faster-than-light travel.
  • THRUSTER BOOSTERS enhance speed and agility.
  • ENGINE TRIM POINTS signify engine wear and tear and must be reset to maintain performance.
  • The ENGINE TRIM ADVISORY PANEL aids in the monitoring and recalibration of the ENGINE TRIM POINTS.

The SHIP ENGINE is the lifeblood of every Metem battleship. A keen understanding of its workings, its components, and their maintenance is crucial for any crew seeking victory in the battlefield of the Void.

"Each pulse of the engine, a heartbeat in the endless dark. It is our duty, our honor, to keep the rhythm steady."
- Olara-152

Engine Trim Advisory Panel

Engine Trim Advisory

Found in the ENGINE ROOM, the ENGINE TRIM ADVISORY PANEL serves as a vital link between the crew and the ship's ENGINE, monitoring inevitable wear and tear over time. This panel identifies and marks active ENGINE TRIM POINTS, signaling the requirement for recalibration to maintain optimal ENGINE performance levels.

"The same panel observes countless imbalances. The same hand performs endless calibrations."
- Norabi-352

Engine Trim Point

Engine Trim Point

ENGINE TRIM POINTS are a sign of inevitable wear and tear, indicative of the SHIP'S ENGINE calibration drift over time. As they manifest, these points can be RESET, mitigating the TRIM POINT's negative effect on the ENGINE PROPULSION LEVEL. Identifying TRIM POINTS is straightforward thanks to their radiant yellow DIODES. They are also highlighted on the ENGINE TRIM ADVISORY PANEL, providing a comprehensive snapshot of the current ENGINE TRIMMING status.

Allowing TRIM POINTS to accumulate will eventually result in the Ship MOVING AT SEVERELY REDUCED SPEED. Each TRIM POINT reduces engine power by 3%. Trim Points can be PINGED from the HELM using the NEED ASSIST PING (Default Keybind: X)

"In the dance of the stars, constant adjustment keeps harmony. So it is with our engines in the vastness of space."
- Norabi-21

Thruster Boosters

Thruster Boosters

The battleships of Metem - and their adept pilots - significantly profit from an array of powered THRUSTER BOOSTERS.

  • Power up the THRUSTER BOOSTERS in the ENGINE ROOM.
  • Engage the THRUSTER BOOSTERS from the HELM.

Upon activation, THRUSTER BOOSTERS enhance the ship's velocity and agility for a limited period.

"Blessed be the Engineer whose hand quickens our pace. In their charge, our thrusters roar, and the stars become but streaks in our wake."
- Canticles of Velocity

Void Drive

Void Drive

The battleships of Metem are equipped with powerful VOID DRIVES, capable of facilitating faster-than-light navigation between SECTORS of space. The VOID DRIVE must be fully charged before every jump.

To initialize the process, head to the ENGINE CONTROL PANEL in the ENGINE ROOM:

- Turn the VOID DRIVE rotary switch to initiate the Charging Process. - Stand by while the drive to fully charges.

Twin-coupled VOID DRIVES, like those installed on the METEM DESTROYER, require both drives to be charged. If the charge initiation is synchronized by two crew members, the charge speed significantly increases.

The single VOID DRIVE of the METEM FRIGATE does not come with a synchronized charge option - instead, it has an ENHANCEMENT PANEL available, for those moments where the Frigate needs to make a speedy VOID JUMP.

Take note: Completely charging the VOID DRIVE consumes crucial time. During charge-up and post-charge, the ship's movement speed is severely reduced(-50% engine power), making you an easy target. Timing the charge to evade danger is vital. Also, you must select a jump destination on the ASTRAL MAP before you can initiate the VOID JUMP itself.

"As our argent souls reach for the stars, so too must the vessels carrying them."
- Hymns of Astral Projection

Helm

Helm

Located in the upper levels, the HELM holds the manual controls for steering the ship and initiating VOID JUMPS.

To pilot the ship, observe the following protocol:

  • Sit in the pilot seat and turn the power on.
  • You can look around freely in your seat while steering.
  • Activate THRUSTER BOOSTERS. THRUSTER BOOSTERS must be manually charged in the engine room.

To initiate a VOID JUMP, pull the lever on the right. Note that a destination from the ASTRAL MAP must be selected first and the VOID DRIVE must have finished charging. Remember to sit down during a VOID JUMP to avoid unnecessary dismemberment.

"Shotgun!"
- Xangilu-29

Astral Map

Astral Map

To plot a course and take stock of the situation, void crews rely on their trusty ASTRAL MAP. Located on the upper levels of the ship, near the HELM, the ASTRAL MAP is used to select a VOID JUMP destination.

  • Use to select destinations for VOID JUMPS
  • Insert DATA SHARDS to decipher their content

Remember, the VOID DRIVE must be charged to perform the jump.

Fabricator

Fabricator

A cornerstone of the ship's adaptability, the FABRICATOR caters to the shifting demands of the Void Crew. It recycles materials into ALLOYS, prints an array of essential equipment, WEAPON MODS, and inscribes ANIMUS CRATES with installable modules.

Upgrade the FABRICATOR during your pilgrimage to increase processing speed, enable auto-alloy-recycling and add new fabrication blueprints.

Temporary blueprints can be unlocked from the GENE TREE, or by recycling unlearned items.

All recipes in the next table represent the cost of creating the item(Production) and how much you get for disassembling the item(Recycle). If the items is not present in the table, then this item can not interact with the Fabricator.

"Look to the Fabricator: it breaks things down, gives them new purpose, and reshapes them to fulfill it. So it is with Metem."
- Vaeroptyx, the Wise

Fabrication

Fabrication

The FABRICATION process uses the ship's available ALLOYS and forges them into useful items.

To Fabricate:

  • Make sure that the Fabricator is Empty, so there's room for the new item.
  • Select the desired item blueprint at the FABRICATION TERMINAL.
  • Confirm the process and the Fabrication Process will begin. Once done, the new item can be retrieved from the FABRICATOR

Inscription

Inscription

The INSCRIPTION process transforms a BLANK ANIMUS CRATE into a functional SHIP SYSTEM MODULE.

To INSCRIBE:

  • Place the BLANK ANIMUS CRATE in the FABRICATOR.
  • Use the FABRICATION TERMINAL and select the INSCRIPTION tab to choose the SCHEMATIC you'd like to INSCRIBE on the CRATE.
  • If the BLANK CRATE is of a sufficiently high RARITY TIER, the INSCRIPTION process can be carried out.
  • Retrieve the INSCRIBED ANIMUS CRATE from the FABRICATOR.

Note that a HIGH-TIER CRATE can be used for INSCRIBING a single SHIP SYSTEM MODULE of the SAME OR LOWER RARITY TIER.

"In each blank vessel, a universe of possibilities. Through inscription, we guide potential to form, manifesting the silent songs of the stars."
- Carvings of Creation

Recycling

Recycling

The RECYCLING process breathes new life into unused items, turning them back into valuable ALLOYS. Place the item into the FABRICATOR and choose the RECYCLE option at the FABRICATION TERMINAL. After the process, the resulting ALLOYS are added to the ship's AVAILABLE ALLOYS.

Not all items can be Recycled, particularly those critical to missions. Also, it's important to note that the returned ALLOYS represent only a fraction of the item's initial alloy cost.

Shelves

Shelves

Lugging everything around quickly becomes a chore. Use SHELVES to store and retrieve resources like BIOMASS, ALLOYS, and AMMUNITION CRATES. SHELVES are found in multiple places throughout the ship.

"Shouldn't have stuck my hand into that void drive. Now where did I put that canister of biomass?"
- Sungam-3

Airlock

Airlock

A structural necessity for all extravehicular activity, AIRLOCKS act as membranes between the ship's interior and outer space. To leave the ship without endangering yourself or others, certain safety protocols must be followed.

Locate the interior AIRLOCK terminal to begin the pressurization procedure:

  • Pressurize the AIRLOCK chamber.
  • Open the inner AIRLOCK.
  • Enter the AIRLOCK chamber and close the inner AIRLOCK using the terminal in the chamber.
  • Depressurize the AIRLOCK chamber.
  • Open the outer AIRLOCK.

Remember to equip the EVA JETPACK before opening the outer AIRLOCK. To safely re-enter the ship from the outside, follow the procedure in reverse.

At any point, the safety may be disabled, allowing AIRLOCKS to be opened regardless of pressure levels. This may result in the destruction of the atmosphere and the violent evacuation of all crew members from the ship. To restore the ship's atmosphere and/or temperature, use the LIFE SUPPORT system.

"Safety? I don't need safety. I can always just-"
- Final words of Obrien-1

Resources

Alloys

Alloys

The precious metals littering the void can be salvaged and repurposed to serve your needs. Deposit and recycle ALLOYS in the ship’s FABRICATOR. Deposited ALLOYS can be used to fabricate a variety of useful things, including WEAPONS, MODS, and UTILITIES.

When all hell breaks loose, adaptability is the key to survival. Be sure to salvage ALLOYS whenever you can and keep an eye on how you spend them.

"Energy is not created, nor destroyed. It only ever takes a new form"
- Illuminations 4:19

Biomass

Biomass

Its origins unknowable - or perhaps better left unsaid - this viscous paste is the lifeblood of METEM's warriors. Add BIOMASS to the ship's resources by depositing it in the BIOPORT. Stored BIOMASS is used to boost the healing powers of the SARCOGRAPH.

Life is just another resource, to be gathered and conserved. Avoid careless deaths and save BIOMASS for when disaster strikes. Remember, even a broken body can serve the cause.

"Tastes like chicken."
- Almus-45

Blank Animus Crates

Blank Animus Crate

BLANK ANIMUS CRATES are flexible and trustworthy. They can either be printed by the FABRICATOR or found as SALVAGE. Once acquired, a BLANK ANIMUS CRATE can then be placed in the FABRICATOR and INSCRIBED with a SHIP SYSTEM MODULE.

BLANK ANIMUS CRATES come in different RARITY LEVELS, ranging from COMMON to LEGENDARY. The COMMON variant can be FABRICATED by ECTYPES, while the higher RARITY TIERS can only be found as loot.

"The same box holds a hundred things. The same soul lives a thousand lives."
- Domilyka-54

Inscribed Animus Crates

Inscribed Anims Crate

INSCRIBED ANIMUS CRATES are a marvel of engineering, reflecting the adaptability that lies at the core of the Tenet of METEM. Once INSCRIBED by the FABRICATOR, these crates carry within them the full capability of creating a single OFFENSIVE, DEFENSIVE, or UTILITY SHIP SYSTEM MODULE. For this purpose, the INSCRIBED ANIMUS CRATE must be securely placed in one of the ship's HARDPOINTS.

To INSTALL A SHIP SYSTEM MODULE using an INSCRIBED ANIMUS CRATE:

  • Locate an available HARDPOINT and position the INSCRIBED ANIMUS CRATE on it. Be mindful of WHAT and WHERE you are installing the MODULE. A cannon mounted in the rear of the Ship is great for shooting pursuers, but not very useful for a frontal assault.
  • Activate the switch on top of the crate, then step back to commence the installation process.

Most SYSTEM MODULES necessitate a 1x1 HARDPOINT, while larger MODULES need a 2x2 HARDPOINT. Once installed, a MODULE can be UNINSTALLED, reverting it back into an INSCRIBED ANIMUS CRATE.

"A single chest may contain countless treasures. A single life may span countless adventures."
- Lathabi-41

Hull Repair Plates

Hull Repair Plate

The warriors of METEM are immortal; their vessels of war - regrettably - are not. Print HULL REPAIR PLATES with the FABRICATOR using ALLOYS and place them on major hull breaches to stop any deterioration and restore a portion of the ship's hull integrity.

"I've never used one. Never got hit. Not even once. Never."
- Tiberon Drat

Sanctified Hull Repair Plates

Sanctified Hull Repair Plates

Unlocked in the FABRICATOR by having the corresponding perk. The divine energy stored inside the Repair Plate will recover a small amount of Ship hull when used. Each Sanctified Hull Repair Plate heals for 40 000 HP.

Power Cells

Power Cells

The capabilities of certain ship modules - both OFFENSIVE and DEFENSIVE - can be augmented with POWER CELLS. Extract POWER CELLS from the void or print them using the FABRICATOR. POWER CELLS can be used to power ARC SHIELDS or installed in energy weapons like the SHURIKEN CARRONADE to boost their damage output.

Depleted POWER CELLS can be recharged using a CHARGE STATION or the battery sockets found near the CENTRAL COMPUTER CRADLE.

"Energy comes in different forms. My favorite is whichever leaves the biggest crater."
- Rygmus-51

Ammunition Crates

Ammunition Crates

To mete out justice on humanity's enemies, many weapons require a continuous supply of bullets. Scavenge AMMUNITION CRATES from the void, or print them using the FABRICATOR.

The following weapons need AMMUNITION CRATES to fire:

Data Shards

Data Shards

Knowledge is power and the void abounds with invaluable clues about our past, our present and even our future. DATA SHARD is a catch-all term for the info-slate and intel pieces found inside WRECKS, derelict SPACE STATIONS, and during certain OBJECTIVES. Retrieve DATA SHARDS using the EVA JETPACK or the GRAVITY SCOOP and insert them into the ASTRAL MAP to decipher their content.

"There is a final death awaiting all. It is the one with a thousand young and it hungers for the silvery tinge of our souls. It rests underneath the walls of THE GARDEN until its feeding time begins."
- Data Shard labeled Visions of Apoquantica, retrieved near the Obscura cluster.

Ship System Upgrader

Ship System Upgrader

The ship system upgrader becomes available to fabricate once the FABRICATOR has been upgraded. Can be used once on any upgradeable module to upgrade it a level, making this a very valuable item.

Nano Copy Matrix

Nano Copy Matrix

Nano Copy Matrixes are only obtainable as rare loot from a bosses or Hollow Collector. Can be used once to create an exact copy of ANY type of carryable item.

Oxygenated Blood Packs

Oxygenated Blood Packs

Unlocked in the FABRICATOR by having the corresponding perk. Oxygenated blood packs can be consumed to replenish oxygen. Useful for prolonged EVA exploration.

Tools

EVA Jetpack

EVA Jetpack

Carrying ECTYPES on the wings of controlled propulsion, the EVA JETPACK is an essential tool for traversing wrecks, repairing exterior hull breaches, and retrieving valuable resources from the void. Locate and equip the EVA JETPACK inside the AIRLOCK and step outside to take flight.

  • Use the jetpack dash to gain a brief increase in movement by pressing.
  • The jetpack protects against extreme temperatures and provides a limited amount of oxygen.
  • Colliding with moving objects or drifting too far from the ship may result in termination.

Other installations cannot be crewed while wearing the EVA JETPACK, so don't forget to put it back in its proper place when re-entering the ship.

System Enhancements

System Enhancement

The performance of most ship systems can be briefly improved using manual calibrations known as SYSTEM ENHANCEMENTS.

  • Perform SYSTEM ENHANCEMENT to increase system efficiency.

The effect gained depends on the nature of the affected SHIP SYSTEM. VOID DRIVES will spool at a greater rate, GRAVITY SCOOPS will work at an improved range, etc. After calibration, a system must often cool down before another ENHANCEMENT can be performed.

Flash Light

Flashlight

Even with all the stars, outer space tends to get pretty dark. Activate the FLASHLIGHT to illuminate your path through wrecks, derelict space stations, unpowered ships, and darker places yet...

"Anyone got a light?"
- Kilmax-68
