Perks
The gene tree/perk tree enables users to upgrade their capabilities at the cost of perk points. Players have a perk point for every level (Ascension Rank, not to be confused with METEM Favor Level), starting with 1 point at level 0 and ending with 31 points at level 30. Each active ability has a cooldown of 120 seconds, except for grappling hook.
To make use of perk points, players should head to the Personal Loadout Terminal located within the Metem Command Hub. This terminal allows players to invest their points into a class ability and across four distinct skill trees. Certain perks require a level of investment in the class tree before they can be accessed.
The four available skill trees in Void Crew represent the game's primary role archetypes:
Gunner
Buffs related to manning turrets.
Class Ability - Empower Weapon
When manning any weapon activate the ability to channel void damage into your attacks, causing extra damage against all armor types. Leaving the weapon will cancel the channeled ability. The ability lasts for 8 seconds.

Pilot
Contains buffs related to moving the Ship and performing the Void Jump. Usually never leaves the helm as they must always evade fire.
Class Ability - Auxiliary Shield
When manning the helm, activate the ability to channel a fast-charging omnidirectional shield with maximum damage absorption. Thrust boosters used during this time will also last longer. Leaving the helm will cancel the ability. The ability lasts for 15 seconds. Pilot's class ability acts same as Arc Shield and has next stats:

Notes - Shield Absorption - This bonus is multiplicative, not additive. +20% (full bonus) brings shield absorption from 50% to 60%.
Engineer
Buffs for tasks related to Repair and Maintenance.
Class Ability - Repair Instinct
While on foot, activate the ability to gain increased movement speed. While active, all repairs initiated are completed instantly. The ability lasts for 18 seconds.

Scavenger
Scavenger excels at EVA journeys and gathering resources from wrecks/derelict structures. Their abilities are well suited for powering up facilities and using turrets that exceed the power of our ship weapons for long periods of time. They are also very good for going out and repairing the ship with their dash speed and low cooldowns.
Class Ability - Grappling Hook
As an Ectype, activate the ability to launch a grappling hook towards a target. Reactivate/release the ability trigger to cancel the grapple. You Cannot grapple onto non-player ships. Grapple distance is 80 m.
